Persistence in Prayer (Luke 18)
Here’s a teaching snippet:
“Today I’d like to talk about prayer but particularly, ‘persistence’ in prayer. You know the ‘old timers’ would often declare, “We need to storm the gates of heaven, bind Satan and pray until God hears you.” Well I believe there’s some truth in that statement; however, much has been said down the years regarding persistence in prayer and sometimes for the wrong reasons. Having studied the scriptures for a little bit; I firmly believe that God’s ability to intervene in our lives is greatly impacted by our personal prayer life or lack thereof. This may seem an obvious statement but let me put it to you another way; I truly believe Gods ability to move in our lives can be ‘restricted’ by our prayer life. Therefore, if we’re not diligent in some areas, we can miss out on seeing God’s best come to pass in our lives. Firstly, we have to realize that God’s not deaf. He hears us the first time when we ask Him for something. When Jesus said in Matt 7:7 and Luke 11:19, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you,” he wasn’t urging us to repeat the same petition over and over again. He was stressing that we need to be persistent in our intentions when it comes to prayer and don’t quit until we get an answer.” – Pastor Carl
